So here is a visual update on the while it was a work in progress:

Kitchen:

Everything must go! Large scale demo at its best.

Dead rats and other things that don't need to be mentioned existed behind that fridge. We discovered it was a non-load bearing structure so that had to go too. I love an open concept!

The ceiling was so rotted that it needed to be completely removed. We also spent a week pulling up every nail we could find in that floor. In doing some of the early demo we found the brick to be in good shape so we went after that too!

So much better! Opening up this space really highlights the enormous space of the kitchen.

We found the brick!

We also found a hidden door. This would have been a door directly to the second floor back stairs at one time. It was sealed over and hidden behind the wall. Amazingly the door is in great shape and can be used on another project. #saveeverything

Ripped all of that weird tongue and groove "wall" covering down.

This is the rear hall. As much as we would have loved to save this floor it just wasn't in the cards. Too much damage from what was put on top. We won't tear it up but instead lay new hardwood over it.

After a dumpster load of trash we found the floor. #yuck. This will need a new floor as well. That wall paper has to go!

After taking up the carpet we found the subfloor. I thought about keeping and using it as the base but the house leveling that needs to happen will require us to take much of this floor up and the gaps are too big. New floor here as well. In doing research we discovered this was an amazing parquet floor. We will try to bring back some magic here!

Guest room and a totally salvageable fur floor.

Up stairs bathroom shower gone and so will most of what you see...

Found out that the two bathrooms were connected via a cardboard wall. Yup - that fell quickly. We will have to redo this space but this was a very large single room at one time.

Getting rid of the wall paper... all of it.

There is a wall to be found!

The chicken wire is a nice touch but it is going in the trash.

Cutting out access to run the new electrical.

More cutting into the plaster

The dining room has some brick! All the exterior walls were removed so we could install insulation.

We decided to flip a closet that would be useless in the master bedroom. It will open up in the hallway and be used as a linen closet.

A very narrow closet after the door frame was removed.

The master bathroom after the wall paper was removed.

We found a few things wrong with the corner post. #bad It was replaced.

All the concrete was removed from the outside area where the pool used to be.

Tearing it all up!

We needed a new roof. So we replaced the whole thing.

Concrete board rocks

Rebuilding the box gutters all the way around the house. This alone added 4 weeks to the job.

They are now safe to walk on!

The 1st floor bath gutted.

The outside walls with no insulation.

More gutting.

Future master bedroom - Love the brick exposed!

Future master bathroom after all the gutting.

Guest bedroom after the gutting.

A bedroom after the gut. We saved all the lathe in the house to reuse. We will seal the door to the right which leads to the next bedroom.

The other side of the doorway. More gutting :)

The future baby's room. The wood planks on the floor protected the dropzone of material that was handed down through the window.

The library chimney exposed.

The dining room chimney

2nd floor plumbing coming up. Below is the first floor bathroom. All the plumbing was on the same side of the house.

More floor gut.

Master bathroom closet building time!

Master bathroom shower starting to take shape

House is now leveled and not being supported by screw jacks. Yes - Screw jacks.

We saved most of the marble bases and restored them.

Our one sad toilet that doesn't have a base.

Outside repairs on the siding.

#bad

So we had to rebuild the whole corner. Add another 2 weeks.
