During the Mess - The kitchen

During the mess - Da Kitchen

Adding the can lights. Using a string is quite effective. Also notice we boxed in the piping running down. We also filled that with insulation so you don't hear toilet water in your kitchen while you cook. Cost a whopping $20 in insulation to never hear toilet water. Believe it or not new builds don't even consider this option. That's why you hear water running in areas of your house you would rather not.

The chase pipe before we boxed it in.

We later modified the pipe that is running under the joist. The plumber is so used to doing retro fits and commercial that they wanted a drop ceiling. NOPE - put it in the rafters to keep the historic ceiling. He had to redo it.

The future kitchen sink. Always a good idea to take a picture of where your pipes are. That way you don't accidentally fire a nail in your poop line.

We had to rebuild most of this blocking. Older work compromised the joist.

We reused old insulation that we tore out of the 3rd floor and used it in the walls to keep the sound of the running water at bay in the kitchen.

Drywall day!

In the background you can see the blow in insulation around the chase pipes and in the exterior wall. Double sealed and sound proof.

Cabinets arrive!

The drawer station

Leveling on the sanded floor. 6 foot level makes sure all the cabinets are perfect.

Sanded and painted.

The pile of boxes in the dining room and more flat packed boxes ready to go.

The coke needed a place to hang out so we hung the wall cabinets.

These are 42" wall cabinets that we put on a 2" kick platform. This gives us storage on the opposite side of the bar. #Ilovestorage

Counter top day!

My favorite edging

Actually looks like we know what we are doing.

Props to the granite guys who had to haul that slab across the yard to get it inside.

No one will see that - maybe we should cover that up. We didn't have choice in that turn due to the foundation under the side of the house.

I love level!

Back splash going in!

Late nights

The almost finished kitchen with knives on a vertical.

That piece of tape in the corner I hit while installing some crown. It got fixed the next week.
